DWU SRC 2013 Major Fundraising-Corporate Dinner@ Madang Resort Hotel

The Student Representative Council of Divine Word University through its Cultural and Commissioning Committee has projected a major fundraising at the Madang Resort on the 4th of May, 2013.

The Corporate dinner attracted quite a good number of business houses with in Madang and the members of the DWU community. The purpose of this major fundraising was to raise funds towards the two major upcoming annual events of the University which are the Cultural Day which would fall on the month of August 25th, 2013 and the Commissioning of the final year students which will eventuate on the early October.

The committee managed to organize various cultural groups within the school to take part in the night to entertain the guests at the corporate dinner. The performances were done by the students which turned out to be a remarkable night for everyone.

Seeing here is a traditional dance performance done by the East Sepik Student Association of DWU at the Corporate dinner.

Meanwhile, the SRC was so fortunate to have with them the Minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry and the member for Yangoru Sausia Honorable Richard Maru who was able to accept the invitation of the SRC to be the key note speaker for the night. Mr. Maru was so impressed to be with the student as it was his first invitation by a University for such an occasion since he entered into the parliament. The DWU SRC for 2013 really acknowledged his time and commitment and look forward to work closely with other student minded leaders such as Hon.Richard Maru.

The Committee also acknowledges the Managing Director for Madang Resort Hotel Sir Peter Barter who has been kind to allow the student to use its facilities. Mr. Barter has been very loyal and helpful to the University for so long and has a strong mutual relationship with DWU. The DWU administration and student do appreciate his sincere contribution and is looking forward to continue work along with him.

Organizing such an occasion is not an easy task but the two committees have been critical and efficient towards that event and it actually turned out to be a successful one. Congratulations to the Cultural and Commissioning Committee for organization such a big occasion with in a very short time. Such occasion was as eye opening for the general student body to be more innovative in the organizing future fundraising events.

I strongly believed in the 2013 SRC and its members because of their visionary and I believed they  will continue to lead the student body through the commitment of total quality assurance.
